When a body is discovered on a beach, bled dry, the sleepy seaside town of Weston-super-Mare awakens to a nightmare. It’s her first case on the job for Detective Inspector Louise Blackwell, who was recently reassigned to the town she last visited as a youngster.  Veronica Lloyd, an elderly volunteer at a nearby church, suffered puncture wounds to her hands. When a priest is discovered murdered in a nearby church in a similarly gruesome manner, it is evident that Blackwell is dealing with a righteous and bloodthirsty murderer. However, the victims are not chosen at random. The killer has a vendetta and is hell-bent on taking twisted revenge for a dark secret that dates back years – and more murders are planned.  As the victim count grows, Blackwell finds himself in a race against time to determine the murderer’s identity and put an end to the tragedy. She thought she understood Weston, but the town had more secrets than she could have ever dreamed. Who can she believe, and who knows more than they are revealing?  She must solve the crimes that tie the victims together before it’s too late.
