Elba plays Dr. Nate Samuels, a newly widowed husband who travels to South Africa, where he met his wife, with their daughters on a long-planned journey to a game reserve managed by Martin Battles (Sharlto Copley, Russian Doll series, Maleficent), an old family friend and wildlife researcher. But what starts off as a healing excursion quickly turns into a terrifying battle for survival when a lion, a survivor of bloodthirsty poachers who now sees all humans as the enemy, begins following them.

Iyana Halley (The Hate U Give, This is Us series) plays Meredith, Samuels’ 18-year-old daughter, and Leah Sava Jeffries (Rel series, Empire series) plays Norah, Samuels’ 13-year-old daughter.

Beast is directed by Baltasar Kormákur, the visceral, experiential filmmaker behind Everest and Universal Pictures’ 2 Guns and Contraband, and is produced by Will Packer, the blockbuster producer behind Girls Trip, the Ride Along franchise, and ten films that have opened at No. 1 in the United States, including Night School, No Good Deed, and Think Like a Man, as well as James Lopez, president of Will Packer Productions, and by Baltasar Korm Ryan Engle (Rampage, Non-Stop) wrote the screenplay based on an original tale by Jaime Primak Sullivan, and it is executive produced by Jaime Primak Sullivan and Bernard Bellew.
